Brewery Wharf is a new mixed-use urban regeneration set within the historic Wadworth Brewery district in Devizes, Wiltshire. The redevelopment of the former brewery site will result in a vibrant new mixed use, retail, F&B and residential urban quarter, regenerating a major brownfield site in this delightful town centre.
Introducing a strong sense of identity, distinctiveness and identity are just a few of the defining characteristics of our Brewery Wharf project. A sequence of routes and spaces defined by carefully designed and positioned buildings which respect the site’s heritage, including form, scale, materiality and detailing, will work in harmony to create an exemplar neighbourhood.
As the branding suggests, the underlying theme here is to connect the former brewery buildings (which are to repurposed as a cultural and leisure quarter), with the canal side (which is enjoying a new renaissance as a leisure and activity corridor). At the same time, efficient planning will ensure impact to the surrounding road network is minimal, and that the public realm is optimised with legible routes and spaces enhanced with greenery.
Our vision was underpinned by the desire to respect and reimagine the town’s medieval radial settlement plan, by recreating the original “outer settlement” which once sat bound by the outer defences along the waters edge. In so doing we will preserve and enhance the town’s unique character while introducing a contemporary, thoughtfully designed space.
In line with current best practice, our masterplan will provide an enjoyable and characterful neighbourhood with enriching, people-focused placemaking at its heart.
